{:en}On June 6 \u2013 9, 2018, the 24th International Festival of Regional and Local Televisions\u00a0Golden Beggar<\/em>, took place in Ko\u0161ice. The organizer of the festival was the City TV Ko\u0161ice Foundation, the main partner was Ko\u0161ice self-governing region. Parts of this remarkable event, in which TV artists and film-makers from more than 50 countries of the world presented their works, were panel discussions of experts dealing with current social issues. These panels seek the answers to the question of what topics should be brought by televisions and independent producers and in which ways they are supposed to do this.<\/p>\n

Participants of the first discussion\u00a0Nationalism: current politics, public discourse and media<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>included political scientist Grigorij Mese\u017enikov (moderator) and speakers Peter Hun\u010d\u00edk (psychiatrist), Jozef Len\u010d (political scientist) and Jakub Dr\u00e1bik (historian).<\/p>\n

Nationalism is a political ideology based on the premise of ethnic exclusivity, which stresses superiority of a certain group of people sharing the same origins, history, area, language and culture to all other similar groups. Nationalism sees a key and indisputable value in a nation, and national states in particular, and in all things related to it.<\/p>\n

Historically speaking, nationalism was based on an effort groups of people defined on ethnic grounds made to survive and gain a better position in the race involving other ethnic groups. It was a reaction to an insecurity of an individual, his or her need for the sense of belonging to a specific community, striving to identify with said community even further. This insecurity stemmed from the feelings of threat, be it external or internal, especially when it came to situations involving social changes, crises and conflicts.<\/p>\n

Na prvej panelovej diskusii\u00a0<\/em>Nacionalizmus: s\u00fa\u010dasn\u00e1 politika, verejn\u00fd diskurz a\u00a0m\u00e9di\u00e1<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/em>sa z\u00fa\u010dastnili\u00a0politol\u00f3g Grigorij Mese\u017enikov (moder\u00e1tor) a\u00a0re\u010dn\u00edci Peter Hun\u010d\u00edk (psychiater), Jozef Len\u010d (politol\u00f3g), Jakub Dr\u00e1bik (historik).<\/p>\n

\u00da\u010dastn\u00edci diskusie sa zaoberali spolo\u010denskou funkciou nacionalizmu v\u00a0s\u00fa\u010dasnom obdob\u00ed, rozmanit\u00fdm aspektom nacionalistickej politiky a\u00a0podob\u00e1m verejn\u00e9ho diskurzu ovplyvnen\u00e9ho nacionalistickou ideol\u00f3giou.<\/p>\n

Nacionalizmus je my\u0161lienkov\u00fd, ideologick\u00fd a\u00a0politick\u00fd pr\u00fad etnickej v\u00fdlu\u010dnosti, zd\u00f4raz\u0148uj\u00faci osobitn\u00fd v\u00fdznam skupiny \u013eud\u00ed, spojen\u00fdch spolo\u010dn\u00fdm p\u00f4vodom, hist\u00f3riou, \u00fazem\u00edm, jazykom a\u00a0kult\u00farou, vyzdvihuj\u00faci jej prednosti oproti in\u00fdm podobne sformovan\u00fdm skupin\u00e1m. Hlavnou a\u00a0nespochybnite\u013enou hodnotou je pre nacionalizmus n\u00e1rod a\u00a0v\u0161etko \u010do s\u00a0n\u00edm s\u00favis\u00ed, najm\u00e4 n\u00e1rodn\u00fd \u0161t\u00e1t.<\/p>\n

Historicky nacionalizmus vych\u00e1dzal z\u00a0\u00fasilia ur\u010ditej etnicky definovanej skupiny o pre\u017eitie, o vydobytie si lep\u0161ieho postavenia v\u00a0s\u00fa\u0165a\u017ei s\u00a0in\u00fdmi etnick\u00fdmi skupinami. Reagoval na neistotu jedinca, na jeho potrebu spolupatri\u010dnosti k\u00a0ur\u010dit\u00e9mu spolo\u010denstvu, snahu hlb\u0161ej identifik\u00e1cie s\u00a0n\u00edm. T\u00fato neistotu sp\u00f4sobovali pocity ohrozenia, zvonku alebo zvn\u00fatra, najm\u00e4 v\u00a0situ\u00e1ci\u00e1ch hlb\u0161\u00edch spolo\u010densk\u00fdch pohybov, kr\u00edz a\u00a0konfliktov.<\/p>\n
