            There was quite a lot of humour and comedy around this year\u2026 a little dark, sometimes very dark, but it\u2019s good to be able to laugh and smile when life is difficult. Spanish-style humour from Alvaro Moriano. Ol\u00e9!!<\/p>\n

              10yrs ago, a young Italian, Andrea Lodovichetti, won a Golden Beggar with a short thriller. This year he has brought us his new documentary, PESCAMARE<\/strong>, made with his home-town fishing fleet in Fano\u2026<\/p>\n

                From France, Lisa Sallustio gave us her very funny black comedy \u201c\u201dThe cat next door <\/strong>\u201d, where being helpful to a neighbour becomes a total disaster, as you will see from this extract\u2026<\/p>\n

                  An Honourable Mention to Sean Bloomfield\u2019s \u201cLove Reaches everywhere<\/strong>\u201d and we must include a special mention for Gerald Butler\u2019s mother!<\/p>\n

                  1. Grand Prix Golden Beggar Award for Production Company <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                    Name of the film:\u00a0 Ala Kachuu – Take and Run<\/strong><\/p>\n

                    Director: Maria Brendle<\/p>\n

                    Country: Switzerland<\/p>\n

                    Run time: 38:26<\/p>\n

                    Ala Kachuu <\/strong>means a young girl being kidnapped into marriage in Kyrgyzstan\u2026 and that\u2019s the title of Maria Brendle\u2019s Golden Beggar Award-winner from Switzerland, retitled Take and Run <\/strong>in English.<\/p>\n

                    Sezim hopes to become a full-time student but is kidnapped and forced to marry a stranger. Sezim desperately seeks a way out.<\/p>\n

                    Building trust across very different cultures took Maria and her teams 2 years, producing a very fine film.<\/p>\n

                    10.Grand Prix Golden Beggar Award for Local Television\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n

                    Name of the film:\u00a0 Djurdjevdan is Yet To Come <\/strong><\/p>\n

                    Director: Predrag Todorovi\u0107 TV Centar<\/p>\n

                    Every Christian country has its own special story about St George, its own special way of celebrating St George. The people of Oparic in Serbia have ways to celebrate that will be quite different from most of us\u2026<\/p>\n

                    11.Golden Beggar Award for Young Author <\/strong><\/p>\n

                    Name of the film: Suburban tale<\/strong><\/p>\n

                    Director: P\u00e9ter Goretic<\/p>\n

                    Country: Hungary<\/p>\n

                    P\u00e9ter Goretic from Hungary, who won the Young Author Golden Beggar, for his Suburban Tale <\/strong>had very strong source material to work with, basing his film on a very black comedy by Roald Dahl.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n
